October 30-November 3, 2017

Dear Families,

Our trip to the Olympic Training Center was amazing! We were able to meet several athletes including some para-olympians. Our tour guide was terrific and your children were well-behaved. Many thanks to our parent volunteers: Misty, Nicole, Miles, and Mary Ann for supporting our class and keeping us safe. Our next trip is to the Pioneer Museum in February!

Parent Teacher Conferences have been so great! I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing each of you again and talking about your most precious possession…your baby! Thank you for carving out the time to come in and celebrate your child.

The Halloween Parade and Party are on Tuesday.  The parade starts around 1:30 and parties are set to start following the parade. If you would like to help with the party, please let me know and I will connect you to our room mom, Amy.

Have a great week and thanks again for your support!

Mrs. P. 🙂

October 23-25, 2017

Dear Families,

We have launched a fundraiser for MSES.  The packet went home in Thursday folder.  Your kids earn little rubber foxes for the coupons brought back to school.  The fundraiser is optional, but helpful to our school and students!

Our field trip to the Olympic Training Center is Wednesday.  It is $6 for students and $12 for parents who wish to attend.  Also, the Subway coupons for last month’s reading log are still on request.  I will send those home as soon as we get them in the office.

Where is the time going? We are moving into the month of November quickly! Your kids are growing, and I am enjoying them so much.  Please continue to encourage them to do their best at school because they are expected to know a lot! 🙂

Many thanks for all you do, and I look forward to seeing you all at the end of the week! Remember the conference time is 20 minutes for each family. Most conferences are scheduled back to back, so your understanding of this is appreciated.  Please know that if we need more time to discuss your child, we will schedule another meeting on another day.

October 9-13, 2017

Dear Families,

What a busy week for your kids.  We finished our study of Ancient Asian Civilizations and are now reviewing for our assessment on Tuesday.  We will then move to Greece and study the Ancient Greek Civilization.

I gave a test on addition regrouping.  It was sent home.  Please look it over and see how your child did.  Most of the class did really well, so we will finish up 3 digit addition with/without regrouping and move to subtraction with/without regrouping.  If ever you have a question or concern about any of the papers going home, please don’t hesitate to ask. Spelling tests are taken and scored by your second grader.  I do look them over prior to sending them home. Keep up the good work studying ‘the code’!

Conferences are coming up.  I will be sending home dates and times this week, so watch for this invitation.  If the day and time selected doesn’t work for you, we can change it.  Your child’s presence is requested as the conference is about them! 🙂

We have a Room Mom!! Alice’s mom, Amy has volunteered to head up our parties this year.  I will give Amy everyone’s contact information that signed up at Open House.  If you were unable to attend, I will also attach Amy’s preferred contact information as well, so you can contact her to offer your support.  Thank you Amy!! Our first party is coming up on October 31….more to come!

We are up and running on Front Row.  I will send home the parent information to access this wonderful educational site purchased by MSES for academic support in reading, math, and social studies. Your kids know how to log into this program.  Information is provided below!

Have a great week with your little dumplings!
